Sew Delish.
May/102

We had a very rainy weekend. It started on Friday which was the last day of the month. This was significant only because towards the end of the month, if I have met my quota of hours, I often end up working less the last few days. As it happened, I did not have to go into work at all on Friday. So what was the best thing to do for a rainy day off? Sewing!
I had not tackled a sewing project since last summer when I sewed three pillow covers for our couch pillows. The sewing machine had migrated to my house but had not gotten much use. Until the perfect free, rainy day for a new project. The project was new placemats for our kitchen table, and two for our outside patio table.
By Saturday, I had finished 4 different, quirky placemats, including slip-stitching the openings closed. I opted to not do the decorative top stitch, and after using them when friends joined us for Saturday night, the general consensus was that they were successfully completed. In Trevor’s words, they just seem more like us.
Next up: finish two more funky placemats for our patio table. (I was sewing the front panels of them in the picture at the top.)
